Hike Lists, Trips & Challenges

Hike schedule

As always the most up to date information regarding hikes appears on the online calendar which is published monthly. Hikes are generally classified as A (sometimes A/B) or B (sometimes B/C or C) – see the Hike ratings.  If hike information has been changed from the original publication of the schedule, it will be labelled ‘UPDATED’ on the calendar. Changes within 24 hours of a hike start will be distributed by email.

Challenges

In 2020 a local hiker challenged himself to summit all 47 named peaks in the CRD parks. The OCV challenge is rounded up to 50 with two that had been named since then and another from the maps of John Hasell, a noted Victoria hiker who passed away in 2011. One of the lesser bumps, Homer Hill, was later removed from all the online maps, and we substituted Princess Peak (newly-named in 2023) as an alternative. There is no time limit on the challenge.
The Pathways document lists suggested trailheads to access up to four peaks at a time in 22 hikes.

Because many of these peaks are only accessible as B- or C- level hikes, the 100 hike challenge was created for dedicated A-level hikers. It is designed to be completed within one year.
