We hiked almost 11 kms Saturday under the leadership of Rita. It was a tough hike with lots of accent and decent made all the more challenging by the snowy and icy conditions. We had faith in our fearless leader Rita. It was a great 5 hour hike.
Six of us hiked 13 kms today around Squally Ridge, Jocelyn and Bonsai. The Arbutus trees were showing off their wonderful colours of espresso, ocre, orange and olive green. Some of our native Oregon Grape plants were looking very colourful also. As is often the case the rain held off.
What a difference a day makes. We had glorious sunshine and wonderfully interesting skies for our hike around Whitty’s Lagoon, Sunday, January 14, 2018. Fifty shades of grey has nothing on our 40 shades of green.
Hiking around John Dean Park on Saturday, January 13, 2018. Wet and soggy but still magnificent. The view from Pickles Bluff was totally obliterated by the mist. We bumped into the BC Parks volunteer who was maintaining the trail. He said he could use the help of some OCV hikers if we felt like volunteering. I told him I’d be in touch.
